what is off-season war tanking? Impacts of off season war on war rating and bracket?

I have very limited knowledge on the effects of war during of season war. Please don't mind if my questions are stupid. my questions are as follows:

1. What is tanking in off-season war? and what impacts does it have on war rating and tier and brackets during the off-season or on next season?

2. If I end a season in gold 2 and say tier 6 how and why do my next season tier or bracket may change based on my off-season wars or if I don't do any war even?

3. What is the effective way to lower my war rating but still holding gold 2 or gold 1 bracket?

4. Points collected during off-season war, does it have any impact on which tier or bracket we will be placed on the starting of the new season war?

5. To stay on the Gold 1 with a 50% win rate during war season running minimum how much war rating is recommended since season points thus brackets are based on the tier multiplayer we are in?

It’s not really that great in those tiers anyway, was more for tier 1-2 alliances, you need all the multiplier you can get in t6, May still be borderline worth it, just means you drop your rating so you get easier matchups for more wins, but you also drop your multiplier so you end up with less points for those wins than if you hadn’t tanked, with the bubbles that go on with matchups only being similar rated alliances I wouldn’t risk it, there aren’t that many easy matchups going around anymore, I’ve seen wars in tier 12 with zero defensive kills

winterthus and speed80 thank you for your answer but I am still not clear can you guys answer each question and be more specific with example?

One thing is clear lowering the war rating results in lowering the tier thus getting fewer points for war season so also lowers the bracket.

Let me explain our problem at higher difficulty (tier 5) the map nodes are very difficult to clear so most of the time it is not possible to clear 100% for the alliances, where average players don't have more than two 5/65 5* maxed.

But due to higher war rating and tier we are getting difficult maps in tier 5 and opponents are putting stronger champs where we sometimes have to put 4* maxed. As a result, we cant clear 100% but the opponent can do 100% although we have same war rating and closer alliance rating (some opponent members have more than 5 5* maxed but their rating is as low as 400K how is that even possible).

So we want to go down to much lower tier say tier 7-8 where we can clear 100% win or lose and still get as much as points as of gold 2 or gold 1 alliance. This is my primary question?

@winterthur do you mean "way to lower war rating but still holding bracket" is called tanking? if your answer is yes then tell me how to do that if no also tell me how can we do that?

Please fix war tanking! I want to be able to play wars again in off-season. The problem is that everyone is tanking!

For those who don't know what tanking is: Tanking is trying to lose wars on purpose during off-season to lower your rating and to get matched up with easier alliances during the war season, so you get more wins and higher season rewards with minimal effort.

We, as an alliance, are forced to tank, because if we don't tank then we will be facing alliances like MMXIV, NYC Guardians, etc which would just result in an instant loss cause we can't compete with their roster. This would then result in getting lower season rewards than we are supposed to get.

At the moment no wars are being played during off-season, at least in the higher ranks, and every war results in a tie (no defenders placed, no one joins attack), meaning: no rewards, no shards, no loyalty, nothing. The result of every war ending in ties is that everyone stays in the same place with their war rating, and tanking has essentially just become a strategy to face against alliances at YOUR OWN SKILL LEVEL.

Therefore I propose a very easy solution to fix tanking:

Freeze rating during off-season so losing/winning wars has no effect on your season ranking.

@Daphboy this is complicated. You are saying these people play in one alliance in one season and the next season in another?
That means while they play in their main alliance in one season their shell alliance also do war and lose to lower their war rating but to do that these 30 people need to have 30 similarly rated alt accounts and do war and hold the bracket or else they will drop down to silver bracket from plat 4 due to lower event points. Once they make the switch they will get easy war but the season rewards won't be worthed because of holding bracket requires to play war and explore and do boss kill. I am more confused now.

Please, guys, copy my questions and answer them accordingly and be more specific
