Void clarification

I have 5* unawakened at 3/5. I am saving for the chronometer to hopefully get a science gem. Question is: Is it his awakened ability that gives the degen? I searched and couldn’t find this topic, sorry if it’s a repost.

The degen you might be talking about is not part of his awakened ability. For every unique debuff on the opponent, you deal damage

Void needs awakening, plus high sig level for maximum potential. But his signature ability really only comes into play for long fights. Once you max out all his debuffs (6) if he's unawakened then they fall off and you start over again. But if he's awakened then he gets "Fear of the Void" which is a passive buff that basically combines those 6 debuffs into one, along with an attack boost while FotV is up. The buff doesn't do damage by itself but allows him to turn into a reverse heal/power machine. But to see that effect you need fights long enough to apply all his debuffs, then add more debuffs in the time while FotV is up. Then you see opponents, especially ones w regen abilities, basically killing themselves. With higher sig level the damage boost ramps up and the debuffs come faster and that's where he becomes a real "beyond god tier" force.

But basically his signature ability means you can spam sp1 and the longer the fight the more effective he becomes. And without it then at some point he's going to reset and you have smaller window where he is maximizing his damage, fights require more patience and management.
