It just seems quite hard to recruit in global chat

An alliance searching machine would be better.
You can set a range of total score you want, the map of aq you want to play. Wether or not you want to do war. The average prestige.
And alliances could set a preference or standard for what people must have to join their alliance, or even how to find them in the search engine.
