Terrax was released in March. At that point we knew his abilities and we were excited. Mole Man has guaranteed crits and bleeds, or so it seemed. And Terrax looked like a cosmic OR with some indestructible thrown in on the side. When they were released though Terrax turned out to not be the champion we had thought. He didn’t hit that hard and his indestructible charges were not what they seemed. Here I’m going to be exploring why he isn’t that good and revealing some potential uses and that Terrax could be great with a simple change.
AttackTerrax has a very low attack rating in comparison to some other champions. As a R3 6* his attack number is 2704

This is 100ish lower than Ebony Maw

Over 300 lower than Mojo

And a shocking 500, that’s right 500 lower than Domino

That’s terrible. Ebony maw has more attack than him and not by a small amount either.
However whilst his rock field is up he gains an additional 4000 attack. 4000! That’s much better. Now he has an attack rating around double that of Domino.
The rock field can do up to 1k damage a tick, that’s 2k a second. Now if that can be used where the rock field is active for all/most of the fight he should have some actual potential.
UtilityNow let’s move on to utility. His indestructible charges reduce damage he takes from hits/special attacks. Meaning he could be good for AoN nodes. But there’s one problem there. He loses them when he blocks an attack. That applies on parries as well. Sucks right? Another problem with the indestructible is unlike champions like LC and CMM it’s not a proper indestructible. He still takes damage from stuff like bane, starburst or other types of external damage. Not great. It’s more like the indestructible charges of KM. (no offence to KM at all it’s just the indestructible isn’t his main feature)
It’s not worth all that damage for little use. However he does have access to armour breaks, a lot of them. Whilst they are not very potent (decreasing armour by 800, really?) they offer that utility. He is also immune to power control from #metal champions, use there fighting transducer etc.
But he is immune to bleed and shock. Meaning he could counter EMP mod and biohazard.
Defensive capabilityIn contrast to this as a defender this guy can be a proper pain. Rock field doing damage, Dr Doom proof and Ghost proof. Let’s not mention that trying to Quake him results in getting killed by passive DOT.
Any champion that needs armour (Warlock, G2098, KM, Iceman) are done for as well.
Overall impressionWhilst base stats are underwhelming Terrax makes for a tricky defender and, much like IMIW a champion with some niche and quirky utility. He can also have access to some nice to good damage.
If I were to change him like they changed champions at the end of 2019 I would just replace the indestructible charges with actual indestructible buffs that are removed when hit but not when a well timed block is performed. Utility and sustainability right there. It’s as if they tried to reduce the damage in replacement of the rock field and utility.
