Is it "safe" to open crystals and level/rank up champs now?

Basically is it safe to play this game right now because anything and everything is around gold? I've already read posts from mods, but that doesn't seem to have clarity on this.

You should be fine unless you claimed skirmish rewards that we're clearly bugged. Then again I'd wait just to be safe before donating to your alliance treasurey. Take screen shots of your champs if you want to upgrade them or open crystals. Just know crystals might freeze up while opening and that might be a headache to deal with.
