Not being able to use certain rank up gems

I’m trying to use a 2017 generic 5* 3-4 rank-up gem (from variant 5) on my magneto. But when I go to use it, the game will only let me use my regular mutant 3-4 gem. I know this has been an issue in the game for some time. I was just wondering if kabam had any plans to fix it in the game so that we could choose which rank-up gem we want to use? I really want to save my mutant gem in case I get prof x this month. It’s just frustrating cause I really want to rank up magneto too, and I have plenty of gems to do it. The game just won’t let me use them. It sucks.

    I have exactly the same problem. With Variant 5 out, this is extremely frustrating and completely derails rank up plans. Can we please have some kind of response?

    This sucks. I'm here with the same problem. Two 2016 Mutant Rank-up Gems to use but they don't allow me to use prior to my other normal Rank-up Gem that I'm saving for Apocalypse/Prof. X.
