Need advice on Thing gameplay/potential rank up

After completing the cav eq i opened a 6* and got thing! Obviously he's not duped, but is he worth a r2? How do you play him? What are his uses? I often use HT so the synergy would be nice but is unneccessary.

Yes he is worth rank two. I was lucky enough to dupe my 6* and took him straight to rank two. Great immunities. He does not need the dupe but it is helpful. Build his rock stacks to 15, and he has unstoppable sp2. Build stacks to 20 and throw an sp3, he gets great damage and goes unstoppable right after. Good vids on youtube as well. Sometimes better to watch them for a visual lesson.
