Platinumpool path in epic side quest

I am actually curious about this one... Is this path worth it? Those crystals could give some missing pieces too if not then some units. Should I go for this path?

I only really want the units. Sure, he’s a cool champ, but not game breaking. I would only really consider him for fun/prestige/showing off.
