What does the ‘Collection’ filter do?

This may be a stupid question, but what does the ‘Collection’ filter do in the Champion page??
Whenever I toggle it, it seems to just sort the champions into alphabetical order.

It shows which champ you have in each rarity.

But doesn't the 'Alphabetic' filter do exactly the same thing?
