nah they probably just got more from the events

I hoarded them too, but I hoarded them for the same reason I'm not opening these new ones. There was nothing in there I needed or really wanted at this stage. So converting them for me just lets me keep them there for a next golf event for if I'm bored

They weren’t GENERIC shards that were used to choose either of the old Solo's.
They were specifically only for one type of Solo or another.

Same way that I can not ask for my 3* Hero Crystal shards to be able to choose to open a 5* crystal using them.

Going forward, new Solo shards are designed to open ANY of the choices, but that is NOT how the old shards worked.
