Special things you do before opening crystals?

I like to play the Spongebob episode, Spy Buddies, and then open the crystal. It's worked out well as I have a 6* Doom, Hulkbuster, and a 5* Nick Fury when I did so

I sometimes go find my cat wherever he may be sleeping and have his paw stop the crystal. Never gotten anyone good, so I’m assuming he’s bad luck.
