Ghost sp2 question

So, I’ve been trying to up my skill level with ghost and play her a lot recently, and I’ve noticed this several times. When I am playing with Wasp on the team, I’ll dash back and immediately hit the sp2 button for the guaranteed crust and unblockable special, but unluckily the opponent will be far enough away that I whiff the first hit. “All good” I think, because the second hit has incredible reach, so it indeed does hit the opponent even through block because of wasp. Here is where the dilemma comes in, I’ve had the third hit not reach far enough to hit the opponent even after the second hit made contact...... is this supposed to happen? I understand that different attacks have different reaches, but I feel like once a single hit of a special makes contact with the opponent, the other hits should too. Calling all you skilled Ghosters to let me know if I’m just a noob and this is actually something that happens with other characters or if this is actually a flaw in the design that should be .... wait for it .... phased out.

Considering how OP Ghost is, kabam might decide to not fix it.
@Mcdonalds I almost always do, I’ve just been trying to maximize damage given/special attacks I have to dodge and I’ll dash back after a single medium and it happens. That is good advice to not have to deal with it though.
Also, for all those with the advice on how to pull off a sp2 without missing, I appreciate and can do it most of the time, but some fight just require a different play style or cadence than ghost usually can benefit from, or sometimes stuff just happens. I just want the mistakes to be on me and not the game.
1) you miss the biggest bit of damage being the final hit
2) the enemy depending on the AI will just slap you with a full combo and if you are lucky a special to the face that crits and kills you
