No infinite streak in the arena after the arena update

I was almost done with the t1 alpha arena when I went in with rank 2 5 stars and got matched with 3 rank 4 5 stars. Then I went in with 3 rank 3 5 stars and I got matched with 3 rank 5 5stars (with suicides at that). Lost to a Hyperion who eventually ended me with an sp3. Now I took a screen shot. Went in with 3 rank 5 4stars: got matched with 2 rank 5 5stars and 1 rank 4 5 star. 
Up until earlier today I would be matched with opponents of equal total rating but now I get matched with opponents of approximately double my rating. I find this extremely inconvenient cause now keeping the streak is incredibly hard and I can't really afford to grind the arena unfocused. Bad change. I'm wondering if this is intended or just another bug.
