I have both. First to clarify misinformation above. None of the synergies in this game work on defense/defenders. Both are great champions. As attackers i give an overall edge to apoc for his utility, ease of play, and less time to ramp up (1 fight vs 3). However, once ramped up, prof x can deal insane damage. For synergies, prof is going to help your entire mutant team vs apoc will make one mutant just crazy on your team. You have to remember prof x is going to give u 100% extra damage to entire team on sps vs apoc giving 50% to 1 guy. Also attacking ability acc inc only effects a few champs ie wolverine and aa. However, if it storm, cable, wolverine, gambit, and aa they become really insanely good with apoc ( but only 1 per quest). If your primary mutant is col, domino, havok id stick with prof x. Also prof x side synergies with poison resistance with col or wolverine(if run suicides), power gain ( aa), and mental block (saves u alot of damage in beginning of fights with mags and ice) are super helpful. So I would say with synergies depends on who you like to run for which ones better.

Ok fine I get your point. But to let you know when you say defenders in this game everyone assumes and usually uses that term for war defense.
Definitely professor x. You know what's even better. 2 professor X's. I got a 5 star and 3 star prof x. I ramp up my 5 prof x to 4 cerebro plus one more cerebro from my 3 star. 5 cerebro charges. That's 125% special damage per mutant.
