Rank 4 Six Stars

When does everyone think we will see tier 6 basic, and tier 3 alpha. And if only one comes out at a time, will the other one be useless until the new one?

Also, how many shards should a tier 6 catalyst be broken up into.

No idea, but I do find it weird that Rank 4 6* champs are gated behind two resources and not just one. Historically, each new rank up tier made available in-game has one new resource associated with it. R4 5*s were the first introduction of t2a, maxing them was t5b, and currently we’re at t5cc.
It could be that Kabam changes it so that only one of these two resources are actually required when the time comes. I don’t recall how long r5/r2 champs were the pinnacle for, but I imagine it’ll be at least another like 6-8 months before we start seeing the first r4 6* champions. I assume Kabam really wants to slow roll this because once we hit r5 6* champs, the 7* train will start gassing up

Yeah I agree the invention of 3 new types of catalysts is kind of crazy for one star type. T5CC, now T6B, and T3A. Seems like it's made up as they go along.

I think the progression of the rank up system just caught up really.

They couldn’t really have T5B be the main basic rank up source after 2 previous tiers of the ranking system and the fact it is becoming so much more common to higher tier players.

They also had to move up the Alpha catalyst system as otherwise they would be the Alpha resource from 5* r4s. The same commeness of the catalysts applies.

I think they took the right direction and it could be fun with how they introduce it, maybe in each chapter of Act 7 you get a selector for completion and exploration which allows you to choose 1 T6B OR 1 T3A with an extra of each added onto completion rewards. Meaning the whales will be happy to explore and get to a R4 faster but then more casual players can also obtain them just slightly later. Then for completion rewards of the whole of Act 7 will include both as will exploration. T5CC would also have to become more common but I think that won’t be a problem for Act 7. Possibly a 10% selector for each quest completed/explored (meaning a combined total of 240% of a catalyst for completion and 480% for exploring)

@Wicket329 casting my mind waaay back, I seem to recall R5 catalyst costs for 5* champs first appeared to be different to what they are today. It's likely that the 6* R4 catalyst requirements will just be acquisition of a single T3a, I think.

I think we'll start seeing fragments of T3a in Act 1 Book 2 chapter 1 or 2, but I wouldn't expect people to be able to get a R4 6* until full exploration of the act. This keeps up the progression of R2 6* after Act 5 (R5 5* being the equivalent), R3 6* after Act 6, and R4 6* after Act 7 (Act 1 Book 2 being the equivalent).
