Why is there the 5/6* Requirement?

I understand that this is unchanging, and I'm fine with it - I mean I only have 2 more quests to explore before Breaker of Thrones. But I suddenly just thought - Why did they do it? Does anyone know? This isn't a complaint, it's just curiosity.

promote progression but also it was to stop people bringing in synergies. It was stupid on their part and it really backfired

Then they emphasize on 4* growth with these events. That’s what hurts me. We’re moving backwards.

I can see why they did it, and at time of release I think it was a pretty poor decision. For me now it doesn’t make any difference, I think that it would have been appropriate for Book 2, let’s be real - unless you brute forced your way through Act 6 with your wallet, the only time you use 4* is for arena or if you have a 5 and 6* Ghost or whatever but don’t have a 5 and 6* synergy to go with them.

The reason they gave was to promote roster progression, but the actual reason was to prevent players from using synergies and push them to either buy cavs to get a five or six star version of the champion you need or to make them spend more units on revives and potions because you can’t use a synergy. Like, I had five and six star versions of Ghost, Ant-Man, and Hood for pretty much all of Act 6, so I was able to use my six star Ghost with Hood and Ant-Man for their synergies, but I didn’t have a five star Wasp until literally my last path for Exploration. If I had Wasp, I probably would have spent a lot less units for exploration. I had a four star, but I couldn’t bring her in.

I have the 4 gated paths remaining in 6.2.5 for 100% of all of act 6. Have had to leave it on standstill for a while as I’ve not had the time to grind units from arena. Even now though I hold small hope they’ll at least have another look back at the gates system because it still bothers me that the class gates are 5* class restricted rather than just class restricted. I have R2 6* versions of havok and mags, as well as a R3 6* sunspot so those are 3 incredible mutant champs I’ve not ranked up as 5*s. The whole gate system was a mess but this for me was the biggest issue with the gates.
