No seriously, I used him all the time on act 6, and I still use him on AQ or AW attack, as well as uncollected and cavalier quests.
He sure is one of the best champions in the game, not entirely defensive. If you just don't know how to use him, then you can always get better at it. But be sure that at least you don't have a bad champion there
