With V6 we see damage that is completely unavoidable.

Mechanics like Indestructible which we could rely on 100000% before to protect from all sorts of damage does not work here.

Corvus Glaive who is literally immune to death dies.

Namor who would reflect each and all damage still died.

Yes I know what the intent was with it and the payoff is actually fantastic if we use it. And don't think of this as a complaint.

My question is this. Do you think Kabam will bring this back in the future with no positive benefits like the degen nodes in map 6 and likewise? Yes Kabam has changed and they're moving away from these stuff.

And also do you think the introduction of mechanics that completely go against previously established mechanics are good for the game?

No I don’t think a node that limits bringing non-villains into a variant specifically for villains is bad. Nor do I think they will bring this type of node into normal gameplay such as AQ, AW, Act or EQ content. The map 6 degen is completely manageable with regen champs.

I could only see them continuing this type of node in future variants

A node that punishes you for bringing in the wrong type of champ?

Weird, I'm sure there's other nodes that do that to.

Hell I'm sure there's at least one champ in the game that punishes you for bringing the wrong class against them.

    I could be wrong though.

    I'm not.

Seriously? Lots of things in the game require specific champs. This one was more generous than most, considering it allowed nearly half the characters in the game.

The uproar if they bring it into anything else would tremendous. I’d imagine they designed for the variant challenge to fit within the quests theme.

Jesus. Why don't you read the post and come again?
I don't need to read it again. You're complaining about unavoidable damage when you bring in the wrong type of champion to the fight.

Simple solution. Don't bring the wrong type of champion to a fight.

If I say “Mr Sinister should be changed because Corvus can’t beat him,” is that fair? That is the same logic, with a different drawback for bringing in the wrong character. You would tell me to bring a champ that counters him, like the game intends. So why is this different?

    Are you taking to me?
Yeah. What’s the difference between my example and thus? They both require you to actually think about who you bring.

Have you not heard of a node called "Color blind"? The PRECEDANT was set with Bane. This node isn't any different than Bane. There are ways around Bane as well as this node. The way around this node is to use Villain champs. Fortunately some of the most popular champs we have are Villains. It's only unavoidable if you don't follow what the node says.

Does Namor reflect degen from Starburst/Flare type nodes?

Really? I thought you would get the point? I'm in now way critiquing the variant design. V 6 was pretty fun.

Previous to this there hasn't been any degen in the game that was unavoidable by all champs. That's all I'm talking about
I hardly see that as setting a precedent. I'd be more worried if there wasn't a way to counter it.

But it isn't "unavoidable by all champs". Literally every villain avoids it.

I don't think it's unlikely they'd bring something like this back in a similar context. Like restricting certain classes or rarities or tags, be it in future variants or story content, special events, whatever. I think it's better than just banning certain champs directly, you can at least use them for synergies.

But just degen/damage without any way to get around it is very unlikely to happen in the future, especially if "unavoidable" includes perma healblock AND if there's no benefit (aka. Flare).

No, I meant Flare as an example of hard to avoid degen, but with enough benefit to be brought back in act 7
