Who to R2? Tale as Old as Time

KlashdKlashd Member Posts: 47
Sorry for epsiode #7,482,829,467 on "Who Should I Rank up?" I'm genuinely stumped here. I don't pull 6* very often, so I assume I'll never dupe the ones I want to dupe.

Who do you think I should R2 and why?

(HB & SG are already R2)

Thanks in advance!

Can we see your 5* roster? The only reason I say that is because I'm leaning towards saying Nick, but if you have a ranked up CMM, then I'd say Nick no question

Of all your other champs, Nick is still the best even without the dupe.

    I don't have CMM as a 5*, unfortunately

    I'm biased, so Elsa.
Nick Fury and CapIW are both objectively the better choices here (although they need to be duped). And you can't go wrong with Void and Cull either.

I'm trying to force myself to like Elsa. I just feel like she's just gimmicky more than useful.

I may be using her wrong.

I would still say Nick even though you don't have a CMM. He's around the same as elsa when unawakened, but he becomes WAY BETTER in the off chance if you awaken him. For that reason, I say nick.

Here's the rest of my 6* list, in case I'm missing something that these ones aren't trash.

What are you on about? Unawakened Nick has zero utility except ability to bleed and shrug off non-damaging debuffs on having to knock down the opponent. Meanwhile, Elsa can shrug off non-damaging debuffs just by standing there; had some insane dps, direct damage and energy damage; can counter evade, easy openings, diss track and buffed up counter, pleasure to burn counter, crit me with your best shot counter, and a lot of other things. I find new uses for her daily.
See, when you put it like that, she sounds awesome! I'm going to keep working with her to try and figure out how to optimize her use.

Here's a post on her. As for her playstyle, I end with light attacks and use her counterparry to stack busted. Once I'm out of busted ammunitions (when it turns grey), I throw the SP 1 for the precision. After that, I keep with the light-ending combos and throw SP 2. Boom, fight over.

if you don’t like Elsa, don’t use Elsa.

If you don’t want to rank up any of your six stars, focus on the 5 stars instead.

The perfect "explain it to my like I'm 5"

Thank you. I'll do a few more fights with her and consider taking her up today. 👍

    Even being unduped
    Capiw is an excellent option
He's a heavy hitter if you r2 him
    But unfortunately no utilities
So if you don't want to go for cap
Then elsa is a good option too

^^^ but most of these are great rank up options so you can’t go wrong.

You know he can still counter evade in his first phase, right? It’s just a little harder to reach and maintain. On top of that, Nick brings great synergy value to the table. This isn’t to say that he’s necessarily on par with or better than Elsa first phase, but it just seems like you’re selling unawakened Nick a little short.

Seeing as “tale as old as time” is the opening lyric for Beauty and the Beast, I figured this to be a more binary rank up decision. So imagine my disappointment when I saw it was just a rank up thread.

However, in keeping with the theme, I’ll limit my analysis to Elsa (beauty) versus Cull (beast).

Rank Elsa. She’s terrific and more useful than Cull. None of your others are awakened and they all need it far more.

If you have doubts when you look at Elsa and the cats it costs you, just sing to yourself: “let it go...”

Kingpin isn't trash by any means; he's just situational. In the right situation, he's a bit of a monster. He's also getting buffed in February - so watch out for that, and don't sleep on him. (I'm not saying you should r2 him; just look for places he'll shine).

His Black Iso-8 causes reliable damage that no-one is immune to, plus a 40% weakness and -45% Ability Accuracy Reduction; which is pretty decent.

His ability to throw Unstoppable Heavies comes in handy in plenty of nodes like Icarus, Aegis, Rising Sun, Lifecycle and Can't Stop, Won't Stop. It'll also make him absolutely crush certain paths in Variant 7, since he's a Villain, and he'll get a regenerate every time he throws a Heavy...

Yondu is great for paths like Hit Me, I Dare You; Explosive Personality; and is a great counter for Colossus. DPX is fairly rubbish, but does at least access Nick Fury's best synergy.
