How to choose which rank up gem to apply

I have a r4 skill gem and a generic r4 2017 gem. I want to apply the second one to kingpin, but the game only let's me apply the first. How can I do it?

    Unfortunately you will need to contact support, in order to use the non preselected gem.

    Meanwhile, here is a post to state this specific issue is still being reviewed by game developer.
