Shows unread message but nothing new [MERGED THREADS]

I updated to the 30.1.0 version on my iPhone 12 today and now I am showing a lot of messages as unread but when I open messages there is nothing there. It seems to be on both wifi and cell signal via T-Mobile. I have closed the game out but the number just keeps getting higher but no messages.

Following update it now states I have 2424 unread messages. It is an obvious visual bug but wanted to give a heads

How can it be based on my overflow? I do not have 2400+ items in my overflow or any unread messages

I think it might be counting total messages, even read ones. I have 2,729 on mine.

I really hope that this is a bug, because it's not a useful feature.

I have the same thing. Mine is also reflective of my overflow, but if that's the current new, that's very disappointing. Now I'll have to constantly check messages to see I have messages.

Just a heads up. Since the Update, there is a Notification that pops up everytime I log on. Only things are already checked.

Apparently it's connected to the Stash. Not sure if that's intentional or not.

Same issue here (on Android).

No unread messages or requests, but the notification there matches the number by my stash as well

It is showing the number of items in your overflow. The numbers match exactly and when I sold a few items from overflow, both numbers went down by the number of items I sold. I have no unread messages. I suspect when I get messages, the number will add those to the total.
