out of curiosity how does the star system work?

I know it's purely cosmetics and has something to do with likes/agrees/insightful and ill never get it due to my ghost post but I'm curious; how does it work?

Every insightful, agree, like, or awesome will get you 1 point. The stars are based on point values. Definitely cosmetic, but a fun one.
