Why kabam wont let us choose which rank up gem to use?

I was saving my 2017 gem for colossus and normal mutant gem for a relatively new champ.But they wont let us choose which gem we want to use ,when two of these gems are applicable to same champ. Now if i want to use the 2017 gem on colossus , i need to use up the mutant gem on another mutant .In that case storm px is the only best choice i got. Please put an option for whichever gem we can use either class or generic like we used to do in awakening gems.

I have the same, I can't use a gem. When will it be corrected? knowing about correcting bugs, these gemes will expire faster before they fix it.

But it should be , if it was a normal generic gem which is applicable to every champ , then its no problem that game put class gem as default.But when the gem is restricted to specific years of champs,it make problems like this ,where it forces us to put wrong gem on a champ we dont want.

Yes I did it 3 times when I explored v6. They will then ask you to use the mutant gem and will replace it later in your inventory and take away the generic 2017. But don't use them now. Wait for support to tell you to do so.
