Opponent Do special during my combo hits

What's the deal with the game lagging for a few milliseconds during that time the opponents special me to oblivion while I'm tapping away?
Is this the new milking technique?

I've been having lag spikes too, haven't had them special me, but they did combo me into oblivion a few times while I was mid combo. A fix eventually would be nice.
