So I'm going to attempt to understand the logic behind this. "That item is far too valuable to sell but man I'll tell you something. If you dont use it, it's completely ok to expire and vanish from the face of this earth, while you get absolutely nothing for it, you loser"

Or at least that's how I interpret it.
