Regen on final KO blows

It’s something that has bothered me for years, but have never read or seen it mentioned.
Basically on the final KO blows you deal, if the champion you have would normally get a regen by using that combo, they don’t receive the regen as per anywhere else in the fight.
An example would be Omega Reds Sp1 (when he has death spores obviously).
You can finish the fight knocking the opponent out using the Sp1 but no regen is gained. Same goes for any other champion I’ve tried.
This doesn’t seem fair tbh as it would make a huge difference when questing, the only place it wouldn’t matter is arenas.
Any chance this could be explained by Kabam?
