3* +99 (Max Sig) Stone - shouldn’t it say +98 ?

If the Max Sig Stones (+99 Sig Levels) can at best be used on someone just awakened still at base Sig Level of 1 (in 3* example), where does the 99th Sig increase end up. Since it only needs 98 Sig levels to reach Max.

Or in other words, why doesn’t a +99 Stone more accurately bill itself as a +98 Sig Stone instead.

    That's the same for the rest of the sig stone rarities

    @SummonerNR

    I thought I was the only one who questioned that 😂. It was the most recent +99 3*.

    It makes it look and sound like you can feed it to an unawakened champ.

    It isn't really more accurate to call the stone a +98 stone, because the stone doesn't guarantee you get that much sig levels either. It is simply meant to convey the fact that no matter what sig level you start with, you will end with max sig. If you use the stone on something with, say, eight sig levels you will still end up with sig 99. No one asks where the rest of the sig levels went in that situation.

    Kabam could call it a +98 sig stone in theory, but that would probably confuse more people than it helped. It is obvious what a +99 stone does at a glance, even if you cannot in practice get all 99 sig levels. It takes thought to realize that a +98 sig stone is also a max sig stone in actual practice. A +99 description is thus more useful.
    ^ that. I definitely never noticed that it could have been 98 anyways, but in reality, it is granting 99 sigs, but any extras always get wasted. So in theory, every +99 stone will at least waste one sig level.

    Actually we could just rename them "Max Sig"

    We could, but we already have an established pattern: we have +1 stones, +2 stones, and +5 stones. A +99 stone follows the pattern. A "Max" or "+Max" stone exits the pattern and add some extra friction to the appearance of the icons.
