How many units did you use on the Grandmaster?

I apparently suck and used an absolute ton of units. However, the smart move would have been to just take a step back before doing Act 6.4.6 and save up on potions and revives (and units) before going in. Unfortunately, I was pretty dumb. I'd already spent all of my resources doing the rest of Act 6.3 and 6.4, so I went in with maybe 300 units and not a lot more.

However, I agree with @ragnarok_947. Unit-Man is pretty noodle-tier in that fight, for once. While, yeah, I did grind arena for a week and a half while I was stuck in that one fight (this was right as the arena changes made earning units a nightmare for that one week), I'd still say that 95% of my progress was made by understanding the fight mechanics. That is more important than anything else. The next time I go in, I'll go in without being blinded by my goal of becoming Thronebreaker ahead of the summer with all of the content that dropped then, and I doubt that it'll take as many units as my first bout with that cranky old man.

If you understand what to do and you keep a level head and don't get too anxious, it's a fun fight that is perfectly manageable without too much fuss if you do things correctly. Study the rules ahead of time and preferably have them in front of you when you fight, and you should be good.

But do bring in a lot of units, revives, potions and boosts. To be on the safe side. Can't hurt.

I used between 1200 and 1600 for the whole quest. However I feel the urge to provide you with couple more details:

- I had 0 pots and revives saved up
- I used 3 revives on the Angela mini. I just didnt have a proper counter and forgot to bring one.
- 2 more revives went onto small slipups along the path
- on GM I kept buying team revives, the last one was mostly wasted (the last bit of GM left me w 3/5 champs unused and alive)
- I am f2p so I just dived into arena for 5 days straight and kept making units, so that's why the amount is anywhere between 1200 and 1600. I simply lost my mind in arena and stopped keeping track of the amount spent

- EDIT: And I am a terrible player. He has clipped me many times with his SP1. I just suck and take it slowly. So my amount spent is unusually high.

700 units worth of revives and pots. I don't remember how many units exactly. Wait for the bug to get fixed tho

Worst case scenario, you CAN unit man it and going by my experience, that costs around 2,200 units. Nearly everyone should do it for less..

I got him to wounded twice, in the first phase, both unfortunately with g2099, so did almost no damage.

I used corvus on the inflation path, to get to him with 3 charges. I had pretty much no stash at the time.

And I just revived, without once getting him to wounded, with Corvus, and would hope to get to sp2 before dying. That's right, I chipped down 8m health, with corvus.

And that costs well over 2k units to do. So if you completely suck, that's how much you should save.

Why did it cost so much? I just could not evade his sp1 and kept getting clipped by it while trying to bait him. May try him again at some point, possibly with 6* nightcrawler...

(For reference, I used 4.9k units on my first abyss run and 4k on the gauntlet)

But I got him down, now have 3 rank 3s, a fully formed tech t5cc still to use, all t5cc at over 50%, 15 points in SOP and TB unlocked.

TB gets 25% t5cc from glory and calendar every month, alone. So I'm reminded of a comment on here that is made a lot; it's better to spend units on clearing content, than offers.

No units, just a lot of farmed revives. I enjoyed the fight but hated the final phase. I could do the first 90% without using a revive but the end would be a ton.

If you are skilled then you can solo the guy. But I averaged around 500 units worth of items per path. So this includes all the fights, not just the GM. And some lanes it was close to 300, but that would depend on your roster to easily clear the lanes

And during the GM fight, most of my revives were team revives. No point in buying single revives since there is no specific counter for GM so you can use all champs, and its cheaper than throwing one revive on a single champ every single time

I used a total of 1 team revive, 8 solo revives, and a bunch of HP potions that I got from ROL. No units.

But I did start over twice in order to get more practice. My initial plan was to start over at least 3 times, but on my 3rd try, I felt pretty good so I just stuck with it.

The fight isn't hard per se. The challenge is twofold imo:
1. There is no other fight like this. So it's hard to prepare. You have to read the prompts and act accordingly, but this forces you to look at another part of the screen and think about something else, which causes you to make mistakes. So I highly recommend getting to the GM a few times just to get some practice and familiarity. Once you're familiar, it's pretty easy.

2. You can't just chip away with each attempt. You can use countless revives, but if you don't actually get to the wounded stage, then you're just wasting items/units. Unlike other bosses, you can't just chip away by constantly reviving.

Since it doesn't really matter what champ you use, I recommend a taunt champ which should greatly cut down on units/ revives
