Hi everyone, here with another thread of mine. It's a doozy, so strap in.
Kabam, what is going on this year? Since the beginning of this year, I have noticed that every update has brought negativity it seems. Every update brings some gamebreaking bug, boring content, repetitive side quests with no life in them, bland champions, and disastrous communication between the team and the community.
Then came the parry / dexterity bug. And it only worsened. Then this months side quest, with the horrific idea that we must complete impossible quests to gain access to next months event, which you all hyped up as a god-tier event... and it wasn't even that. It's mediocre at best. Not crapping on the champs buts its definitely nothing that an entire month of secret objectives, messages, cryptic messages on the forums, etc. was worth hyping up at all.
Let's look at the champions released this year, and lets look at the ones that seemed to actually have an effect on the game, if at all.
Jubilee & Stryfe - Stryfe is great for long fights, a real abyss clearer. Great beginning to the year, overall good champ. Jubille is OK.
Psycho Man & Super Skrull - Useless champs for both of them. Low stats, low numbers, lack of damage or utility, and generally not that useful.
Mangog and Odin - Odin got better, but needed a buff after release to accomplish that. Mangog is essentially useless, with no ability to gain damage and utility without an obnoxious ramp up, and even then, the numbers dont really work.
Mr. Negative & Shang Chi - Decent champs, especially shang chi, overall kickass month, cant complain. Problem is, neither are easy to obtain at the moment either, until very recently, so useless for a while except for a lucky few.
Silver Centurion and Jabari Panther - Meh, just for promotion of your second game. Neither really bring much to the table, outside of Jabari bringing in cleanse, which serves as relatively annoying ability compared to a useful one, given it doesnt last long, and only removes 1 debuff before expiring for a few seconds, not that good against debuff heavy champs.
I could go on, but I think you guys get the point. This year has been an overall underwhelming, unexciting year filled to the brim with bugs, poor communication from the team, blatant ignorance in most designing of side quests (ESPECIALLY this month), to the point it seems like the team is just playing darts and throwing them at whatever they think should be added next month and implementing it. Whenever we have complained, the team says "We will learn". But you don't learn, you don't even make changes, yet you have made it clear you CAN make changes on a whim, you just refuse to. Don't even get me started on the fact you forced players to rank up 6* champions for an objective, then pulled the objective and refuses to compensate all the resources lost on RANKING UP 6 STAR CHAMPIONS.
This year has been met with pure and blatant ignorance and discontent from the team, with apparently no understanding of how we feel as a playerbase, what will affect us and how, and, on top of all this, have released generally underwhelming, useless or low-tier champions that don't have an affect on the game, as most new abilities are so watered down, you may as well have never added them to their kit in the first place.
I know this is going to come off as me crapping on Kabam, but I honestly don't want to. Last year was amazing imo, with little to no bugs (not in your control, but it is a fact), amazing / useable champs compared to useless ones, interesting and engaging side content, as well as good communication between the team and community with a nice end to the year with 2 new champs and a celebrity side quest, as well as a decent christmas gift.
But this year, its just felt so... bland. Uninspired. Old. You guys have managed to make a mobile fighting game survive 7 years, with consistent and engaging updates that have kept around 50M+ or more in love with this game and spending money on it. That is amazing, and kudos to the team for all the work they have done to reach this incredible goal.
But if the game continues on its current path, with an ignorant staff team that refuse to listen to community advice, to the point that you only listen one the ENTIRE community is calling you all out for your actions, as well as hyped up champs that don't meet expectations, unusually confusing side quests with strange locks on them to acquire content that isn't even worth half the effort needed to acquire the rewards.
I'm just sad and anxious, really. Not angry. Not trying to be toxic. I'm just concerned. Something went wrong this year, and its affecting the entire game. This month was without a doubt the worst, and given all the hype for next month, only for it to appear and pretty much be very mediocre, at best, doesn't really have me excited...
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is just a tough stop. Or maybe, as much as I hope it isn't, this is the beginning of the end.
I love MCOC. But, changes need to be made, and the kabam team needs to please talk to us. What is going on Kabam? Please, explain to us why all of this miscommunication and more is occurring.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk, I hope people understand where I'm coming from, and please know this is not from a place of negativity, but a genuine place of concern for one of my favourite games. I don't wanna see MCOC end, but I dont know how much I have left in me to play this game if it continues along the path it appears to be.
PS: The hype for this month's event, and the difficulty that each challenge provides just so that we can rank up Steve is just insane. Come on Kabam
