What if? Synergy question (maybe a bug)

I am not sure if I am misreading this or if its bug... Maybe someone here can shed some light?

The wording of the VTD and Purgatory synergy suggests that you can store an additional buff in the rna bank for every fight completed.
Now I read that as an additional buff for EVERY fight (past the usual 10), but on testing, I am unable to surpass the 10 usual buffs banked. I did notice however that you can store 1 more buff while building him (4 rather than 3) up until 10 are reached.

Is this just poor wording?

    It means you can store 4 in the bank each fight instead of 3. Lets you fully ramp up after 3 fights instead of 4. Nowhere does it say that you can bypass 10 buffs in the bank. Not poor wording, you’re just interpreting it wrong.
