The Boss Fights of Variant 8 (and a list of all #Mercenary Champs)

Variant 8, Deadpoolooza, releases this month. To help you slightly prepare, I’ve got a handy dandy list of the six bosses you’ll have to fight to get those sweet sweet completion rewards. Hope this slightly helps you in some way, shape, or form. Just remember, your go-to champs here are #Mercenary and Pool-Family champs.

Chapter 1, Quest 1, Staycation: Deadpooloid (Skill) - Don’t know anything about the Deadpooloid’s abilities, so this fight is very much a wild card. Could be easy, or it could be annoying. Time will tell.

Chapter 1, Quest 2, Merchandising: Deadpool X-Force - Enhanced Power Gain, anyone? Don’t know what other fun nodes they could put on here but I suppose it could be annoying.

Chapter 2, Quest 1, Frankenpool: Symbiote Spider-Man makes another appearance as a quest boss here. The current side quest one can be quite difficult so this fight may be quite an annoyance, but it will probably have an easy option with the nodes.

Chapter 2, Quest 2, BFF

: Old Man Logan - Old Man Logan is an alright-ish defender, but looking at past variants I’m not expecting much from this boss.

Chapter 3, Quest 1, I Forgot To Name This One: She-Hulk - I mean… it's a She Hulk. This fight probably won’t be tooo difficult.

Chapter 3, Quest 2, Venompool’s Vengeance: Venompool (duh) - He’s totally going to have the stun immune debuff once he launches a special, won’t he? And maybe energize so he’s almost always stun immune, plus I’d figure Mystic Ward. Probably the toughest fight here.

Also as a side note, Venompool can ambush you at random. (think Variant 4 Moon Knight)

In hindsight, it looks like Karnak & Nebula's buffs corresponded with the release of Variant 8.
I wonder if this can help us predict future buffs.

My thoughts too, these cross fights definitely have potential.

And since it seems like the list is shorter, I think that points to being able to bring any champ in, but only the ones listed get the benefit. Rather than locking out all other champs if you know what I mean.

So that means we can build a massive mutant team around Horseman DPXF and just wreck everything

Always happy for more reasons to use Sabretooth, definitely going to slap Sasquatch on the team. May just go full trinity + Sasquatch & Sabretooth depending on how things lay out

It's probably that non mercenary champs only do X damage. If so based in past content it will either be 10% damage, meaning it's only mercenary champs you can reasonably use. Or it's somewhere between 40-60% and Hercules will lol all the way through.

I highly doubt that's going to be the case. There are more #heroes within most classes than there are #mercenaries regardless of class, and most of those #mercenaries are either trash champions that no one has ranked up or trophy champs that most people just don't have period. If Kabam designs the variant so that you can only use #mercanaries and Deadpool champions, almost no one (at least among those I've spoken to) is going to be able to complete the variant without first spending a lot of resources ranking up champions.

I hope that we get a system where #mercenaries get boosts that allow them to tackle the content even if they're somewhat underleveled, while other champions can complete it normally, just without any helpful boosts.

Many of the previous months' buffs tie into this: Nebula, Karnak, Venompool.

If they want to help us a little more, then champs to be buffed are Electra / Taskmaster and Yondu. I wouldn't mind those.

Latest Variants were not too hard, they were more about Champ variety. I‘m confident that just a few fitting Champs can easily beat it.

I feel like that takes away from the variant challenge, but alright

Let me rephrase it somewhat: I hope it is similar to the XL variant. Obviously XL champs were the prefered ones since they could just cruise through the variant without any hindrance, but you could manage it even with other champions as long as they weren't too small. But I think even Medium champions could parry/heavy a lot of the content.

You had to be smart and play around the restraint, but there were none of those "you literally can't damage the opponent if you are tagged as X, Y or Z" restrictions. I don't mind those restrictions if the pool of champions that can damage the opponent is great enough, but I don't feel like it is in this case. We're talking about 17 champions (if my math is correct in weeding out all of the rare and trophy champs etc) in one of the trashiest tags in the game.
