Side Quest : SS end of path 3 - Instakill

So Steve rank 4 with 3/3 fortitude purify prefight go into the 3rd path SS fight with full health and gets instagibbed. 100% to 0%. Is this suppose to happen?

If you have actual buffs on you at the start of the fight, Symbiote Supreme will instantly nullify them, causing high damage.

I don't quite remember how the symbioid prefights work, though
