Why is Spite in the Summoner Showdown?

I know a bunch of people don’t care about the Summoner Showdown but still. Spite is one of the most RNG dependent nodes in the game. If the AI doesn’t comply u just die (that rhymes) and it’s rly stupid considering these are some of the best players of their regions. It’s not a game of skill if the opponent will throw an SP3 in the fight 75% of the time. Kabam this is my opinion so just hear me out, please fix this in 2022.

Yes. I thought exactly the same. Fights were ending too fast because of spite and a very passive AI. Due to spite, the real skill of the finalists are not really coming out.

Not a fan of it, spite should be removed

Especially today's fights. Ai just stood there and went tosp3. Didn't get to see the skill fights like last year

In general yes, but not against super masochism, you'll either need to parry and get stun reflected, or dex and trigger spite

A passive Sasquatch + spite + wrath of Tannerq seems pretty impossible without a good counter

There are barely any counters. Maybe Vision AOU or Magik. Can u even play 5* only champions?

Magik wasn't allowed in this game mode because it's only champs that currently have a 6*. That also means no quake and no blade.

Yeah the ai of how its been with spite this years was trash its so hard to watch as its just watching sp3 over and over and its boring playing it and seeing that and its boring watching that, lasts years was a whole lot better ai was actually cooperative i hope they fix it before finals as screw watching finals if the ai is just that passive when we at this point of a competition where ai should actually be like the qualifier.

I wonder if Mr Negative would be a better option people haven't considered. I've seen him picked a couple times for defence, but I think he counters quite a lot of the node here.

The one issue is super masochism, meaning you can't parry. But he takes care of spite, whether by removing the dex buff from himself or if you managed to get a petrify up on the opponent. He also takes care of not being able to parry by using his evade intercept to get openings.

The strategy would be dex and remove the buff, building up to 9 light energy. If the opponent goes stun immune like Sasquatch does you could also parry and reparry to build energy. Convert so you have 9 dark energy, then build to near an sp2 and get a few more light energy to convert and get over 10 dark energy and apply both petrifies. Hit an Sp2 and you've got their power under control.

I would say that Spidey 2099 is an even better option, completely getting rid of Spite and removing any natural power gain the opponent has with his wither, and I know he's available because Peni Parker is one of the champs they keep on banning, so it's not limited to basic pool champions.

Red guardian could also deal with spite, and be a decent option for the unblockable specials. We have also seen that a lot of the best fights have been with champions who don't necessarily have the best damage, like Rogue, Vision(s), Void etc, but champions that have the utility to deal with the fight.

Hopefully but ai probs wont change which is why spite sucked so much since the ai was hold block never throw anything

Hopefully they don't add the defensive node, the ai was already bad enough.

Yeah. It was basically a game of who can bait specials faster. With the exception of a couple of players like swedeah doing really good sidesteps making Dave think he had removed dexterity

Which is absurd bcoz if SM99 isn't allowed then Peni shouldn't be either bcoz both came out in the same month

Last year was fun. This year was an SP3 fest. I really feel that tweaked the AI these past few months. Baiting feels significantly tedious than it was before.
