Redesign this screen. Keep or get rid of the class defenders and put the global nodes on this screen. The preview function is fine but it's easier to access the info from one button. This way we know what tags to filter down to.

Agreed, and also throw in an OR tag sorting system. So you can sort by multiple tags at once, and champions who fulfil any of the tags will be shown up. It’s just a bit of a pain to go one by one through each tag and decide which champs you want to bring.
