Alliance Prize Blackout Details

Hello All,

As we mentioned when we announced The Conqueror’s Return, we are implementing a prize blackout period that will prevent players from exploiting content in game. This blackout period will affect users in all Alliances and is aimed to not only dissuade the alliance hopping issue, but also to prevent any potential future exploits from being created in more than just Alliance Quests. The lengths of the Blackout Periods will vary depending on the event and bracket they are referring to. Information on other events will be announced before they take effect.

After a player joins a new Alliance, they are subject to the Prize Blackout Period. During this period, players are still able to earn points for their Alliance and receive Map Crystals for participation daily, but will not be eligible for Rank or Milestone Rewards. This Blackout Period will start to affect players on August 12th. All players should be in the Alliance they intend to compete with for the foreseeable future by this day.

Our intention with this blackout period is to address a lot of concerns that we’ve seen related to alliance hopping, and how this behaviour can impact the performance of Alliances within the contest. While we expect to see some negative feedback from players that have been utilizing this ‘alliance hopping’ tactic, we hope that players that have expressed frustration related to this practice can take comfort in knowing that we are working to address this issue and dissuade such behaviour.

Players in alliances in the Incalculable, Super Human and Gifted brackets will experience a 10 day blackout period in Alliance Quests following a change in Alliances.

Players in alliances in the Peak Human and Normal brackets will be subject to a 6 day blackout period in Alliance Quests following a change in Alliances. (UPDATE: The blackout dates for these alliances has been changed to 10 days as well, more detail are available further down in this thread)

Players in the alliances in the Training bracket will be subject to a 3 day blackout period in Alliance Quests following a change in Alliances.

Many of the changes we have made to Season 3 of Alliance Quests have been done in order to ensure that things can be ‘shaken up’ a bit. In other words, competition is now more fierce than ever, and it will be harder for any one given group to hold dominance for extended periods of time. This will allow more Alliances to compete for top spots within The Contest.

Once again, we want to remind you that all Summoners should be in their main Alliance by August 12th if they would like to avoid having rewards from Alliance Quests affected by this Blackout Period.

    Hi Everybody.

We have more information in regards to Alliance Prize Blackouts. We’ve already laid out the Blackout Periods for rewards from Alliance Quests in the post above, but wanted to give you all a heads up about other Alliance Events, like Summoner Advancement or Quest Completion.

The Blackout Period for Quest Completion, Arena Wins, Arena Series Wins, and Item Use will scale between 12 hours and 2 days depending on Alliance Prestige.

The Blackout Period for Alliance Quest Completion will be 3 days for all Alliances.

The Blackout Period for Summoner Advancement will scale between 1 and 6 days depending on Alliance Prestige.

Just like the Alliance Quest Blackout, during this period, you are not eligible for any Milestone or Rank Rewards.

Good luck in your events, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

As many of you are aware, our original alliance prize blackout dates were not as effective as we had hoped. Some players in higher tier alliances were exploiting the shorter 6 day window in the Peak Human and Normal brackets to gain additional T4CCs. After hearing your feedback on the continued exploitation that occurs with Alliance Swapping, we have elected to make a few adjustments to the Alliance Event Prize Blackout Periods.

Starting October 12th, we will remove the blackout periods for Milestone Rewards in Alliance Quests and institute more focused blackout periods to stop those players that have taken advantage of these exploits. Alliances in the Incalculable, Super Human, Gifted, Peak Human, and Normal brackets will all be subject to the 10 day prize blackout period for Alliance Quests rank rewards. Additionally, players will no longer be locked out of Milestone rewards earned by their alliance from Alliance Quests. This means that players will be able to claim Milestone Rewards immediately after joining a new alliance. Blackout periods for other Alliance Events have not been affected.

Due to this change coming between patches, the in game text will still state that players are locked out of Milestone rewards in Alliance Quests, but this will not be the case. We will work to update this in the near future.

To avoid having rewards from Alliance Quests affected by this Blackout Period, players should be in the alliance they intend to compete with for the foreseeable future by October 6th.
