Is Taunt just obsolete now?

What’s the point in even having champs with taunt with the way the AI is lately? You taunt them when they have 1 bar, nothing. Refresh it or taunt again when they have 2 bars, still nothing. But when they have 3 bars, you’d better believe they’re throwing it without even a tiny bit of taunting.

I’ve noticed Guilly99 seems like her combat power rate is higher than usually, I use CGR 6* rank 3 and normally I can get to a sp2 and power lock while the opponent is just under 2 bars but with G99 I have to bait out a sp2 because the combat power rate is just nuts. It’s been multiple G99’s with no special nodes that increase combat power rate btw. It happens with the map 5 boss as well. (No linked nodes)

Parry has been feeling really bad today after the update. I probably went a full year never missing a parry at the start of the fight, today I “missed” at least 5 in the new side quests in legendary difficulty.

Edit: it didn’t just start today, started off when the major bugs were released but today just felt much worse.

Taunt works fine for me with spiderham. The real question is do you know how to effectively bait specials? Taunt just increases the chance the AI will use a special, but if your gameplay doesn't have potential openings for them to use a special, then they generally won't. It also could be a difference in how the game performs on different devices. I play on a Note 20 and the game is perfectly functional.

I think it’s also that different champs’ so is programmed differently, see differences in mysterio and apoc’s heavy occurrences. It also feels like some champs are a whole lot easier to bait special on, see the difference between iron man and literally anybody else right below sp3. Maybe it’s just my imagination though

I’ve spent anywhere between 1-3 minutes repeatedly dashing back, constantly open for them to throw one, without holding block at all. With taunt or without taunt, they just don’t cooperate. But it can differ from time to time. If it’s the first defender in a quest, I’ve found that quitting and restarting can change it up, but more and more of them are becoming increasingly passive. It may not be happening for some, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening for others or that the reason is people aren’t playing correctly.

This may be the issue. Ideally be 1.5 (person spaces, we’ll call it) and stand still. The Ai won’t throw a special it doesn’t think will land. So be ready to dex or parry. If that doesn’t work. Tap the block a couple time and then stand still again. You know, Special baiting.

My favorite part about the new AI is when playing with ghost, half the time the opponent dashes all the way back to his corner, like he's scared of fighting Ghost. By the time he gets in the mood to fight me, my passive furies from suicides are long gone.
During the other half they're supper passive and just stand there.

They just haven't gotten around to updating the description of the Taunt Debuff....

It is supposed to read that it is mean to taunt the attacker into thinking the defender is supposed to throw a special.

The AI was more cooperative back in the day when I used a 3* ghost, ever since i stated using 5* ghost, the AI sometimes decide to dash back and wait out my phase before dashing back in. “Almost” like they know they can’t hit me. I used quotes because the AI definitely knows lol. I’m almost positive that all the updates to AI is what initially broke the game but you won’t see any AI update in the files lol

Parry failing is one thing, maybe we all just got "bad" at the timing of it..... what i cant accept is that I constantly fail to regular block in time while attempting to parry. How even tho.

It's amazing that they refuse to even acknowledge that they are looking into this or aware of it. I can understand if one person said it once and then never again...but multiple people, multiple threads, and not even an acknowledgement of it. Par for the course I guess.

Taunt is the Elevator Door Close button of MCOC. We all know it probably doesn’t work. Yet we still use it. And are still disappointed when nothing happens.

Ive been noticing the same with hercules' infuriate recently
The opponents just dont dash in and you cant get reliable intercepts like you did before
Insteas the opponent just stands there and when i dash back and dash in again they intercept me and manage to land a few hits on me
Same with spider ham's taunt debuff, doesnt work most of times, my poppers just fall off most of the time before detonation, it just renders the champ useless.

Such a relief that I am not the only one who is experiencing that

I also stopped using stings. They are better than special lock until they are gone.
