Yeah can’t say I’m surprised. It never clicked for me. I respect that they took a big swing and went for it and I’m sure there are some people at Kabam who are really sad it didn’t work out. Hopefully this will mean a greater investment in MCOC both creatively and technically. Also it’d be really cool if Galactus ate the whole realm and that’s how they closed the game since they’ve been hyping his arrival for years.

I gave it a try but it just didn’t have that spark that Contest has for me. I echo the sentiments already expressed- I’m sad for Gabe and the people that put their heart into it but I do hope they will refocus on MCOC and Marvel champions. I’m glad we got Sorcerer Supreme from it but I hope we only get original characters released sparingly.

yeah, they said Hell’s Kitchen got blown apart because of Galactus but the threat would be a lot more real if he ate MROC

Gameplay was a trainwreck. And for a marvel fan, the whole idea giving characters items, weapons, armor and stuff that normally wouldn't use in comics, was...what's the word in english... Meh. I deleted the app a couple of hours after installing it.

That's what happens when you try to create a Kirklands MOBA version of League of Legends / Dota with pay to win gears instead of cosmetic skins *COUGH COUGH take a hint with relics Kabam COUGH COUGH*. Even Wild Rift (League of Legends mobile version) is way better.

If you're asking if some MROC developers will join the MCOC team, possibly. But if you're implying that Kabam was diverting resources to MROC and now MCOC will get those back somehow, no. MCOC and MROC shared some resources, community people for example, but it is unlikely they shared content developers. I doubt if anyone's attention was drawn to MROC and now it can go back to being MCOC full time. And furthermore, the people Kabam hired to develop and maintain MROC are not just Kabam employees they can redeploy however they want. Remember that Kabam is not an independent company, they are just a studio working for Netmarble. People who were working on MROC are not people Kabam can simply ask to do something else. Netmarble funded those positions for that game, and when that game vanishes those positions vanish as well. Netmarble is not going to want to keep paying for them once the game is gone. Some might fill open positions related to MCOC at Kabam, some might move to other developments going on at Kabam, but if there's no chair when the music stops, they will have to find other work.

That's the life of a game developer.

The idea was definitely something too big for mobile.

Unfortunate and you want to feel bad but then you remember how much money they already make from this...

They already announced solo competitive mode was going to be released within the next couple of months. They even pointed out that if you paid attention during the summer Showdown, that's a huge impression of what to expect.

No. Maestro was not killed in mcoc. Pretty sure crystal trapped. Been awhile, but you can rewatch the animations in game if needed through the settings.

Once someone believes a narrative, it is extremely difficult for them to give it up. Unfortunately for them, this world doesn't run on narrativium.

It is very difficult to discover the truth. It takes research, and analysis, and constant skeptical review, and often convincing primary sources you aren't a lunatic. Narratives are by comparison much less burdensome, because you don't need facts, you don't need logic, and lunacy is often an advantage.

The problem is that anyone who understands this would understand that the disagree flag is not a meaningful contribution to the forums. They'd disagree with posts articulating a specific point of view. They don't, because they don't. They believe the narrative that the disagree flag is something that means something and their use of it is a meaningful contribution to that something.

Sure, for a few months maybe. That game has been around for years as well as Shop Titans. MROC is the only one they ever reference since it's release for the past year and half.

Actually, that's my recollection as well. It wasn't a lot of people, but I'm sure it happened.

I wish I understood the mental model here. Do people think the MCOC developers are all just sitting around a big table and a producer walks in and says hey, I know you're busy, but while you're at it here's another game we want you to make?

That's not what happens. MROC had producers and managers and development leads and architects and system engineers and content developers, all hired specifically to work on MROC. Those people were hired to work on MROC exclusively, just like the MCOC developers were hired to work on MCOC. The two groups might have shared some ancillary infrastructure, but beyond some community people who work across titles, maybe some concept artists, and the coffee machine, probably little else.

Plus, wasn't MROC on Unreal? That would imply there's basically zero shared technical resources between the two games. The only things you could share would be things like maybe the sound designer who could make sound effects for both games in theory. But I would imagine modelling, animation, visual fx, combat systems, general mechanics, gameplay systems, economy designers, environment designers, progression developers, and all that other stuff would be completely different. Anyone from one team trying to help out the other team would basically have to relearn everything from scratch.
