King Groot or Venompool to R3?

My next R3 will be a cosmic champ and I'm torn between taking up Venompool or King Groot, both un-awakened. They seem to be pretty even overall after their buffs, so I'm wondering what everyone's opinion on who should get the R3 next and why.

KG is my favorite buffed champ so far. He's not remotely worth ranking unduped though.

Unawakened, then Venompool easily. His sig ability is nice but not required, whereas KG's sig (and high sig at that) is what makes him so great.

Personally, I would never rank up KG unawakened, or even at low sig. Rank up VP
