Isn't that how it works though?
As a long time officer in different alliance ranging from Bronze to Platinum ... I know that MANY people lie about their experiences and skills just to get in ... And officers have to kick them if they don't perform to not sabotage the entire alliance.
Yes ... A little communication and checking up is needed because everyone have bad days ... But that depends on tier of alliance and if they can afford more mistakes.

More to it all but just a heads up since team work and loyalty doesn’t mean anything to them. And a bunch of a show boaters that want to help their tiny egos grow.
