Team Building for Carina V2 Abyss Challenges

Hey all you people,
I wanted to put together a place for theorycrafting best teams for these particular challenges. I appreciate that there is some flexibility in what teams can be used here, as compared to the pretty much set in stone Labyrinth teams for the first round of challenges, so I want to hear from people about what teams and what paths they think are best.
My personal two big debates are for the mutant challenge (team and path) and the Green Goblin challenge (team) since I don’t have a 6* Knull and am not super interested in ranking the 5* if I don’t have to.
Looking forward to hearing what people think!

I guess sym supreme is a must. And you take either path 1 or path 3 or a mix of 2&3
This is what I’m working with for Come Out and Play.
And this is what my current mutant roster is looking like.
I’m not prioritizing Carina’s Challengers because 12 more t2a in my stash is not what I need.
5:65 Venom
5:65 Steathy
6r3 Sym Supreme
6r3 Anti-Venom
6r3 S2099
I’ll take path 1 and use Stealthy and S2099 for most of the fights. Use Sym for the cosmics, then AV for Mephisto, and Venom/Sym for GG
Peni/Mysterio/Stark Spidey/Venom/Sym supreme and keeping it simple with path 1.
Is there anything stopping me using peni incinerate or mysterios poison dot
When making your team, you want a Main damage dealer, slow champ, mystic champ and a heal reverse champ. Also bear in mind who you'll use for Collector, if you don't plan for him then it'll cost you a ton of revives. Looking at the list, I'd say Shang, Cap IW, Morningstar are the best options. Maybe Star Lord and Crossbones could work? But I'm less sure on them.
Obviously it's hard to suggest specific teams but I'm happy to recommend if anyone wants to post their roster.
Here was my plan for Abyss
IW and Collector were the big problem fights here. I wasn't sure who would work for either of them while planning, but as it turns out Shang does really well for both.
My team was: Shang Chi, Diablo, She Hulk, Void and Warlock. She Hulk and Void 5/65, others are Rank 3 6*s.
I decided to go a mixture of path 3 and 1, beginning with Darkhawk, Luke Cage etc, and joining up at Joe Fixit and going Path 1. I'd really recommend this if you're good against Luke Cage, as Dorm, Havok and OML are easy fights and cut off an extra 3 fights. That's why a slow champ is needed here. Shang destroys that fight, and so does Luke Cage.
Darkhawk
Use Void here, tried a couple times until I got him to 33% and decided to start my run. Get debuffs up, reverse by knocking him down, baiting Sp2 and knocking down again
Luke Cage
Shang and She Hulk here, mostly Shang. MLLLM for Stun, MM for Slow and heavy. Do 1 SP3 and then Sp2, it stays within the damage cap so no wasted damage. Look out for unblockable, he will be unblockable most of the fight and also his indestructible during your SP2.
OML
Easy Void heal reverse
Havok
Easy parry heavy with Warlock
Dorm
She Hulk solo here, degen doesn't do too much damage so any champ without buffs could do it really.
Joe Fixit
I went in with Shang a bit, but decided to reverse regen with Void instead. Involves some RNG so plan for that. Tactic is to get all debuffs up, then take a few heavy attacks from Joe for him to reroll and hopefully get Hearts permanently. He goes easy after that. You may get bored of trying for RNG and muscle him down. Up to you.
Mordo
Kinda an all hands on deck moment here in practice, I threw everyone at him. Shang did well, but Mordo's AI can be stingey with specials. Void obviously did well, Diablo managed to get off 30% which was really nice.
VTD
Went in with Diablo first and forgot to activate nullify pre fight which was fun. Got him to about 80% and died. Went back in and holy hell Diablo smokes VTD here. I am going to upload it to youtube at some point and I'll post it here when I do, but wow i was not expecting him to be that good. From 80% to 0% in 5 mins, and I still had 70 abyss charges left after, so easily room for a solo.
Howard
Diablo took care of this in one revive in the end, after he died I used a team revive to get everyone back up and finished off with Diablo.
Hyperion
Solo with She Hulk before the abyss charges ran out
Champion
She Hulk and Diablo handled this together, watch out for his regen on Sp1 when he has a certain amount of furies I think.
Cyclops
Diablo and Void managed this. Diablo activated energy regen pre fight in case I slipped up on evading his beam. Void power locks him, so you can play that slow.
Loki
Diablo and Shang here, you have less power so it's kinda dull. But they both do really well.
Aegon
Diablo solo, no poisons from heavy attacks but from the Sp3 and refresh with Sp2 and nullifying all aegon's furies is a wild time, same as VTD.
IW
This was pretty tough, but Shang handles it. A good second option would be moleman I'm sure. I basically went SP3 while her forcefield was up, I used all my Wushu strikes so I didn't knock her down too much, slow on at all times so you don't get stunned by power sting. Once the forcefield was down I'd go for a big SP2, which would take off a huge chunk, since she has a smaller health pool (about 2.2m I think). I used a few team revives here since they were expiring, Warlock did alright, Diablo did surprisingly well, the others weren't great.
Cull
Easy diablo solo, just remember to activate nullify pre fight
Collector
Shang all day long here. After a couple team revives I realised shang was my best option. On a good run I could get 3 Sp2s off when I was at full health. This would take off about 5-10% health, sometimes I did better. I got 15% off on my best run. As the fight goes on he gets much harder, and I started doing 2-5% per run.
Shang works amazing, with the slow that sometimes sticks, the Stun that sometimes sticks and the unblockable which always sticks. All help the fight go easier. Don't bother with ramping up SP3, you might die and not get to use it. Pop a skill special damage boost for some extra juice. Use SP2 as soon as you get it. If you can, do MM or MLLM for the slow or unblockable so collector can't go unstoppable/block it.
Overall this was what my run looked like
It went around the same as my plan, depending on how you count team revives (sometimes you'll be using Void against IW because of a team revive, so it's not always 5 revives worth). 50-70 revives total. I should have added a few revives wiggle room in my plan for bad mistakes and bad RNG, but I'm definitely happy with that run.
That T3A gets me within 6k of my first R4, and I'm considering going for the mutant abyss run next with some items still in overflow. After that, I may well go ahead and go for the profile pic if everything is going to plan.
My plan for the mutant one will look much different revive wise since I won't have the health potions I used up here. One thing I will say is definitely save your health potions for Collector. They may be helpful elsewhere, but they will be helpful for collector. If you used them earlier you'll regret not having saved them.
If anyone wants advice on certain fights or team building please let me know!
I'll add my mutant plan in at some point if anyone is interested too! Good luck everyone!
Was originally planning to take in longshot as my mystic but seeing Diablo doing work I'll be taking him instead and save on some health potion
Thinking CapIW/Shulk/Falcon/Diablo/G99 now.
Only fight I was previously worried about was IW but I've seen it done with CapIW (+ Mr F powersting) in 1 revive so I'm guessing he can do it in a couple
And falcon can be decent backup if you can maintain his sp3 25s fragility to ignore the abyss node
Other than that I believe the team covers everything
Cap IW- Darkhawk, OML, Joe fixit, HTD, Cyclops, IW
Shulk- Luke, Dorm, Mordo, Hyperion, champion
Falcon- Mordo, IW, Collector
Diablo- Aegon, Cull, VTD, Champion
G99- Havok, Moral Support, Tech for CapIW petrify
I was thinking cap America as I've seen someone solo multiple abyss fights with cap. But the challengers don't have any cosmic champ or mutant champ available. I wonder if that was intentional
Thank you, and best of luck for yours too! I think Diablo and Longshot are pretty equal in the abyss, both have really good Damage per hit for the charges, and both can handle the cosmic fights you need them for. None of the cosmics you'd use one of those for are poison immune, so you can really take either. But it's a good point on Diablo saving health potions, I'd go in with a 20% revive and finish on 100% health easily.
Regarding IW, yeah that's gonna be a tough fight. I don't think it'll take only a couple of revives, better to plan high. Make sure you have willpower and limber on. She Hulk won't be any use, nor will Falcon if I'm honest. I've tried many times to use Falcon against IW to see if he works, and without resonate, you just can't keep debuffs up on IW enough to avoid the power sting. Also his locked on stops the exhaustions applying, so you don't get much willpower healing to deal with power sting damage.
G2099 could be good if she's ramped up, but you'll only get one of those at the start, so it's a lot of pressure. But you could definitely get a good run in. And even unramped, you'll get to 100 combo by the second set of charges, so then you can start doing some real damage. As I said before, don't underestimate Diablo for IW. Have as high MD as you can, use Nullify pre fight and Parry, MM for poisons so debuffs are on IW. Don't heavy attack, if you knock her down then she can go invisible, meaning you will need to miss her and refill some of her forcefield. Throw SP1 far away from her so it doesn't knock her down. Get to 8 Vials and go for SP3, this will take down the rest of her forcefield and then just go crazy. Because you did the nullify pre fight you can nullify those buffs he applies, getting you to an SP2 to refresh the poisons, then spam SP1 while her forcefield is returning to get your damage in. That'll do a nice chunk. Watch out for her evade as well.
Cap could be good with a similar method to Diablo. Just do MM to take her forcefield down (if you want to try, see if your heavy attacks can take it down faster than you refill it by missing an attack after knocking her down).
The collector may be very rough, I think Cap is probably your best shout. Just try a couple team revives and see who is working. Falcon could be good for him too as you pointed out, especially if you put suicides on if you have them.
You already have a limited pool, allowing for less options over all. And because of this, you're likely to spend a ton more revives trying to figure out these harder fights, instead of using your limited team on a much easier path. It's like the 6.2 Champion quest, sure you could go down every path and leave up as many linked nodes as you can, but it's going to be a much more stressful, less enjoyable and potentially more expensive time in the long run. Not to mention, (and I mean no disrespect at all by this) but having only done a completion run you haven't had much abyss experience, and that will definitely play into how many revives you use.
Having said that, if you were absolutely set on combining exploration of abyss and Carina, path 3 is the easiest of the other paths to deal with. Looking through it now, the team I used above could handle the rest of Path 3. Shang could push Red Skull to above 2 bars and then use SP2 after some ramp up and do nice chunks, even if it would be a very slow fight, and you'd likely use a fair few revives. I've seen Warlock solo Bishop before. Korg could be rough but Diablo can manage, the rest are relatively straight forward.
A mutant team could also probably handle Path 3, you'd have to get good at Stryfe or Prof X vs Luke Cage though, he would be a big sticking point. Bishop could be tough as well, but a few meltdowns would tick him down with a fair few revives.
Overall, it's definitely possible. But it may be a little as though you are trying to tie your shoelace on a tightrope, when you could just do one at a time.

Thanks for your insight
I was already planning to set aside at least 10 revives for IW but I'm not sure it'll take that much
Fully boosted r3 CapIW would be approaching damage threshold on sp3 which would ignore force field damage. So even worst case I can see slow play being an option
And I don't think MM would chip force field faster than heavies even with her gaining charges back mainly because of the fury on heavies but I'll try both out
I'm not expecting g99 to do much, I could bring Ultron as an alternative but I only plan to use either on Havok anyway so I decided to take guilly for fun. Tech slot is really just a petrify for CapIW in disguise, need it to heal reverse darkhawk, oml etc and mitigate Cyclops power gain
Collector is definitely the roughest fight of the lot, Cap might be the safest option, I'll try and see who manages to work the best in the team when I get there.
