Hawkeye “Perfect Release” FAIL

Does this still work? I’ve been playing him with Hercules and I still get the fury buff, but I never get that mechanic icon anymore.
Is it the game’s buggy timing or a missing icon? I’ve been reading about pre and cross fights not working so is this along the same lines?
Anybody else?
