Rift Side Quest special objectives question

Does anyone know (from actual experience) if the special objectives for this Rift Side Quest are ones where you can get credit for the next level of the objective without claiming the prior one you completed first or if you lose the credit for completing the rift for the next level if you didn't claim the prior level of the objective first?
As most of us know by now for some reason Kabam doesn't make these objectives work consistently so for some event objectives in the past you could wait to claim rewards you didn't want going into overflow too soon and still earn credit for the next level and for some of the objectives it didn't work that way. As far as I can recall Kabam mods never give us a heads up on how it will work and won't say why they do it that way or fix it to give progress for the events where it doesn't work that way. I find this incredibly annoying.
