Mordo Interaction with Mole Man After Buff

With the buff to Mordo introducing the detonate buff, there has been an interaction with Mole Man which I think is either a bug or not explained properly.

Mordo's new awakened ability states that:

"If the opponent strikes Mordo's Block while they have a True-Type Buff, he has a chance to Nullify that Buff and replace it with a Detonate Buff lasting 20 second(s)."

Mole Man has passive True Strike. However, when Mole Man strikes Mordo's block, Mordo still places the detonate buff, even though the True Strike is not a buff or it is nullified as stated on Mordo's sig ability. So either there is a misinterpretation of the sig ability, or Mordo is doing something he wasn't intended to do.

P.S. I discovered this when fighting 6.2.5 Mordo, so it was extra painful.
