I doubt it was a coincidence but I’m excited either way. I was through the moon when they gave Hercules a romance synergy with Wolverine so this is great
It's probably not a coincidence that they are released on Pride month, no.
As for who I'm more hyped for...none, really. I have no idea who they are in the comics aside from some general stuff like Wiccan being Wanda's kid and Hulkling being his partner. That's about as deep as my well of lore goes on those two.
My reasons for being interested in them are more due to gameplay stuff. Hulkling will be the first cosmic this year, and I'm kind of excited about that. I think Wiccan will be the last featured champion in the next featured 6* crystal (which already looks pretty dope), so I hope he's awesome as well and elevates that crystal even more.
Meh - don't care personally either way on these themed champ releases (take what you want, ignore what you don't) - what's more important is how good a champ they are in this game as all I'll be doing with them is fight.
Hercules is a great champ. Chavez was released with similar intentions/messaging - she seems to be mainly a defender. Not sure these champs will be anything special based on the abilities described in the video.
As an older player (40+) I do tire of seeing these newer and/or more minor characters released over the more foundation/classic characters though. let's see how they perform a few months from now.

As both Rintrah and Wong are mystic, I guess the last featured champion will be Hulkling in the next featured crystal.
Do the new champions really cause that much excitement? Honestly I would be more excited to see more bugs corrected than any minor characters from marvel lore. Race, color, sex. Sexual orientation. These are champs I use to fight. I just want champs and content that work as intended.

This^^ idgaf who’s in the game. Any marvel character is wanted. The forums of course had to go an make a controversial post an have everyone start commenting how proud they are etc an then start complaining about disagrees. Hope that they close this thread before it gets out of hand
To those people who are thinking of making a degrading comment about this month's champs. Pls exit the stage left. Thank you.
What's with ppl disagreeing 💀💀 Are y'all just gonna hate this month's characters cause they aren't straight.
People are disagreeing because your first comment pre assumed that they are going to do degrading comments. Why would they? Does it matter on a characters sexual orientation on a mobile game? For me at least it’s nothing to concern about. On the other hand, that what’s concerning me mainly is the game’s performance/outage, and I believe most people are concerned with this too 🙂

Each disagree is just one more person angry about gay people
I disagreed with both posts but not angry about their choices.
Why did you disagree then?
The attitude of the post isn’t required. He’s neither a mod or a guardian. They’ll rectify any inappropriate comments or posts.
I’m referring to the first two posts. My one saying representation matters and @Unio77 ’s about anyone who is going to make degrading comments should leave.
To me, anyone disagreeing with those is getting angry about two men holding hands, which is frankly ridiculous and is entirely the point about why representation matters.

Yea an it’s both of your posts that have turned this thread instantly toxic, Including the discussion about disagrees.
Again, this thread shouldn’t have even been made, cause look what it’s evolving into

People already have made degrading comments on the forum about it. If you weren’t going to make one, then why would anyone be annoyed about it?
Yes, representation does matter, so it’s good to celebrate LGBT+ inclusion.

Wasn't really assuming but if it sounded like that then that's on me.
My point is for those who are "thinking" of making a remark to just not say it at all. It's not constructive and helps in no aspect so it's better not said
I don’t want to be that guy, but if you don’t think representation matters in this medium, it’s probably because you have plenty of representation already.
There are a handful of characters in the game who share a background with me or that I identify with for another reason and it means a lot to me. To the point that it’s been a deciding factor in certain rankups just because I enjoy playing the character more because I identify with them.
From both a business and a player enjoyment perspective, representation matters. Just because it doesn’t matter *to you* doesn’t mean it doesn’t to others.
Op asked if it was intentional or a coincidence A simple question…but suddenly it’s about wanting bugs fixed and not understanding why people are excited and it not being a matter of concern. Complain about bugs on a different post and leave those excited about it to be excited. You not caring is rather unnecessary to point out lmao

Id say the toxicity was caused by people 15 people so far disagreeing with a post that said representation was good because someone felt these characters saved their life. But hey, you could be right 🙄

Not sure how a comment about telling ppl to not make a toxic comment makes a discussion toxic.
That's like a saying that a mod telling us to be constructive will lead to even more "less-constructiveness"
If you take “Hey guys don’t be homophobic” as toxic, I kinda feel like you need to look in the mirror and wonder why

Continuing for a good point, I'll do that gladly. Ironic how your kinda being toxic don't you think. (Also in case you didn't know pointing that out isn't being toxic)
Marvel has always been about celebrating and championing diversity, and I'm very proud that we get to carry that on in-game.
The X-Men have always been probably one of the most obvious allegories for a plethora of civil rights movements in the past, and I think that's the reason many of us have felt so attached to them. They have long given many of us that felt different a sense of belonging and a way to feel "seen", and Characters to identify with. For many of us, it wasn't until years later that there were more literal representations of ourselves in the Comics/Shows/Movies we loved, and it makes me so happy to see that we are finally adding an LGBTQ+ couple to the game.
People often call small gestures like this "political", but it is absolutely not. Gay people exist and saying that is not political. When you say something like that, you are adding to the ongoing perception that some people's lives are "political", and that their sheer act of existing is a political statement.
We are not going to tolerate any Homophobia here. We have an entire event dedicated to Pride coming up, and it's the kind of Pride event WE want to throw, full of referential humour, and celebrating the diversity of our players, team, and our Champions.
You are free to not play the event, but we don't want the reasons for not wanting to play it (unless it's gameplay related... because that's what we're here to discuss), or why you think we don't need to celebrate Pride in the Contest. They are not necessary and are more hurtful than you might think.
For the record, from the moment that the Champion reveal trailer went live, the negative comments have been few and far between. We know that we have an amazing community that is very welcoming and kind.
We're looking forward to celebrating Pride with you all this June, and can't wait to share what we've been working on!

I think it’s awesome getting representation for LGBT+ people. All you need to realise how important it is, is hear what it means to some people
Pls exit the stage left. Thank you.
