Since you can only halt power gain by landing a special attack, when used on offense a reasonably good player can pretty much guarantee getting to SP3. So Gladiator Thor allows the player to decide whether to unleash an SP2 to burn off the power or go to SP3. In GThor's case, SP3 is not a giant unblockable attack, it is a moderate attack that self buffs with the signature ability.
That's not entirely unheard of. Mordo kinda functions like that: his special three doesn't hit particularly hard. And in fact not even Hyperion's SP3 hits especially hard unless you stack fury first. And it is probably not a coincidence that all three have power gain.
I think he’s possibly the worst looking and animated champ I’ve seen released into the game. He’s hunched over like Old Man Thor, he shifts and twitches about like he’s suffering from meth withdrawal, his baseball bat is very poorly attached to his hand.
He needs an immediate rework in the design department.
I'm still gonna spin for him. Even if he sucks. If so, maybe someday they'll buff him.
I don't like Gwenpool and I don't like vampires. I like Thor. And what's the point of playing this game if you can't play your favorite characters? Chasing "god tier" champs that can and WILL be eventually nerfed? No thank you.
This. 100%. So, few people realize that sometimes the best thing to do is get a champion you just love to play. Sure a really good character will help you past content, but the game is mostly about going from fight to fight and not just trying to plow through all the content as quickly as possible.
As someone who only has a little bit of 5.3 and labyrinth left to do I would say no one needs to be in a rush. Play your favorite stuff, rank your favorite characters, don't worry so much about if they are god tier. You don't need god tier champions to beat anything in this game.
I totally agree with this. While it is nice getting god champs and smashing through hard content like 5.3, one of the nice features of this game is to pick whatever character you like and fight with them. Granted Thor is one of my favorite characters and he happens to be awesome in this game, but I also have a 3/45 unduped Gambit I love to use because I just like the character. He was one of my favorites and is no means a god tier champ. Not by a long shot. Thor (Ragnarok) looks like he won’t necessarily be god tier, but just a super fun champ to play. Get that L3 going and smash people with shock. Sounds super fun to me. I’m hoping my free champ on day 28 is Thor and I don’t even care if it’s a 3*

That's what I don't understand, because it looks like his sp3 doesn't do much damage at all. His damage comes from shock charges after the fact.

While it is nice getting god champs and smashing through hard content like 5.3, one of the nice features of this game is to pick whatever character you like and fight with them.
