Buff notes are out for Jane and I am… underwhelmed. Her ability to chain stun seems more or less intact, but it’s based on RNG and she has no ability to drain power from her opponent or limit their combat power rate. So if you do go for the chain stun, you will inevitably end up eating an sp3. I have a hard time seeing new life for this champion, which is a bummer. She was my first 6* and I had high hopes.

Yeah not happy with the updated Jane Foster champion spotlight. It should be a complete overhaul or some additional kit which she can rely on. It just one champion is coming for an update; smh

The new sig seems fairly decent at controlling ability power rate, but that sort of power control feels counterintuitive to a kit built around chain stun unless all their power comes from ability power. The petrify mastery reduction won’t be enough in normal matchups I fear

The perfect block chance is pretty nice for extended parries, maybe extending chances of landing a stun

We’ll see how good she ends up but feels a bit like Storm again. Mostly damage with limited utility

Nothing new was added - essentially they shuffled around things between Sig, abilities, and specials, and then changed some numbers.
Pretty underwhelming.

Yeah.

They've rolled her Sig into her base abilities, which is good. And she could be pretty good at controlling Passive Power Gain (I assume 'That Which Smashes' is her new Sig ability - if so, they missed out the important word 'Signature').

She's definitely better. But I don't see her being a champion who fills a specific hole in a roster.

@Rockypantherx that’s my read on it. She’ll be amazing against like… Doctor Strange and Symbiote Supreme. She’ll be pretty good against all the champs with lower combat power rates. But any normal matchup or, worst case scenario, any increased combat power rate, she’s going to range from mediocre to actively bad.

Just… why drop to only one buff this month if it’s not going to be an overhaul. The changes here feel so minimal. I’ve said before that my gauge for a good champion buff is whether that champion can now be viable in a piece of content that they were not before. I don’t see where new Jane can go that OG Jane couldn’t.

It’s disappointing. Especially with the new program in place that puts us all on notice that Kabam can tune down champions that are overperforming. What’s the point of that if they aren’t going to take bigger swings? I’d rather they throw the kitchen sink at a champion and then come back and say “okay, that’s too much, let’s dial it back” than get a buff like this that ultimately changes nothing.

I say all of this with a grain of salt because we don’t have the buff in our hands yet and we could all be missing something, but I’m not very optimistic.

Like the Yondu buff, it just feels ill-conceived. Stun lock without SP3 prevention is like gaining attack for each special thrown while reducing the number of specials thrown

She is better than before, her utility has actually improved somewhat (which shouldn’t be a big ask but apparently it now is) but in a class without a lot of diversity in it, I fail to see anything setting her aside from the ever-growing clump of mediocre mystics

Why not have the opponent be neutralised while shocked? Power steal on her heavy attack? Considering it’s Thor where’s the Armour break? Jane is a scientist, what about playing into that? So many missed opportunities

I’m not even saying she’s going to be bad. Maybe she becomes a super cheesy general use mystic that just bursts opponents down in a stun lock with some consistently decent yellow numbers. I cannot stress how much I hope I’m wrong

It’s because they’re spending time on other stuff like the update program. I’ll find the post later but the wording made it seem like they would do good buffs if they have time. That’s a pessimistic view but it’s my reading of it based on the buffs we’ve had

It was in the original announcement that the buff program was changing. People arguing that kabam should divert resources to other areas that need attention can officially claim they got their wish aaaand this is what it would look like.

As others have pointed out. The one and only buff this month is underwhelming at best. She should've gotten much more in her kit. An enverate debuff ot some other way to midigate enemy power gain was necessary. Her sig ability is going to be absolutely necessary to use her in any real capacity. Those of us with an unduped version still have no reason to rank or use this champion. Why even bother "buffing" her if this is it?

If the intent is to leave her as a noodle, why buff her at all? There's a wide range between noodle and OP, and honestly that's where most of my favorite champions sit. Jane might be fun to play with in small health pool fights after this. She really might. But it will never be fun to get hit with the enemy's sp3 without any kind of recourse, and against a large health pool it becomes a certainty that eventually your stun will fall off and you will get wrecked. I don't understand the idea of creating a stun lock champion who will have to stop and reset her damage loop every few hits to bait out special attacks. She needs some kind of counterplay to that in her kit to be of any use.

This is definately not an overhaul, esspecialy if they will not change her animations, which I am 99% sure they won't do!
Just a tune up of a champ, nothing will change for her...
I think Kabam did bad with patch notes announcement before 4th of July offers!
They nerfed Moleman and do nothing with Jane and again only one champ buffed...

Her animations are fine tbh. I don’t need new animations to make a buff. The buff itself though… leaves more to be desired

She was prolly buffed for early players🤷🏾‍♂️. That stun chain works on really aggressive gameplay. We can't really let loose like that can we?

So these lackluster buffs really are going to be the norm going forward, huh? That's unbelievably disappointing for this game's future to me. The buff program was the thing I looked forward to most every month before. Now I go into every buff announcement with lower than low expectations and basically everyone I know doesn't care about the buff program anymore. Way to go, Kabam!

Has it been stated where the previously allocated resources for the buff program are being directed nowadays? Genuinely curious because I see no great improvements anywhere else to warrant the reduced # and reduced quality of buffs each month.

I guess they're aiming to deliver for the earlier game players rather than end game.

They have rated ease of use and utility quite high which I guess when you're doing act 3 and 4 you will happily tap away and maybe you'll survive an sp3 because the defenders don't have such high attack values.

I suspect my 6* will stay at R1/L1 but we'll see.
