I think the more debatable candidate is knull who is taller than/as tall as most XLs but skinnier. Nimrod, on the other hand, shouldn’t even be a question.

I think it's because of the context of being like Sentinel, but smaller than Sentinel. By comparison, Nimrod is much smaller.

I wouldnt agree with that simply because sentinel (in the canonical sense) is far bigger than he appears on screen. Like . A “smaller” sentinel kind of betrays just how big that character could be. Like the standard sentinel is something like 20 feet tall

Thats my sentiment as well which makes nimrod the second biggest after sentinel. Actually maybe hulk is also bigger? The larger point (no pun intended) is that Nimrod is obviously an XL. He is taller than most of them and wider than some of them. If warlock who is literally a robotic skeleton is an XL there is no good argument against it

Odin, for comparison, is 6’9. Apoc is 7ft. Hulk is 7’8. Thanos is 8’3. We can split hairs but this character would un-ironically be able to hurdle most of the XL class

Is mr fantastic an xl because he can stretch to be 40+feet and god knows how wide? Matter manipulation is obviously not the standard.

Regardless: how is hulk xl then? He’s dwarfed by nimrod AND hulkbuster. How is thanos xl? Same problem. How about kingpin? How about venom? How about rhino? Juggernaut? Thing? Abomination?

Ill cede odin but he has matter manipulation which was your justification for apoc so how do you square the two? Same for mephisto who can be as large as a dimension. Ant man can use certain pym particles to grow as you know. That is a REALLY weak point

I dont know. A lot of nodes are hinged ok the way sizes are currently distributed. The big reason I harp on this is that nimrod doesnt get the benefits of XL on the glancing nodes and variant which he should rightfully had. If we added a class he would likely have the same issue since he's not in the biggest category

So first (since you conveniently didnt respond) how do you get around the problem of these characters being XL while being smaller than Nimrod?

You were so eager to die on the hill that a sentinel is 3 stories tall but seem to forget how most of the XL class is nowhere near that.

Your logic literally gives these two statements:

1) Nimrod<Sentinel so he’s not XL

BUT

2) Every one of these characters listed<Nimrod<Sentinel but are still XL

Please answer this before moving onto the next part (when you can’t Ill take as a concession that you’re wrong and inconsistent).

Now as for the shapeshifting; Nimrod’s whole shtick is being able to control his systems at the molecular level to adjust for threats. Size manipulation is the least impressive thing he could do but generally speaking was largely unnecessary for the threats he faced during his combat with the X-Men. This was the robot who could adjust his molecular structure to completely negate cyclops within milliseconds and has shown the ability to shrink. If it was necessary to grow his size its all but implied that he can do so easily. The density point is also downwind of what he’s been shown to be able to do. His systems can repair themselves from scratch implying again that he can freely manipulate/extend/reform/deconstruct to seemingly any extent he chooses. Also if a 9’10 robot can condense themselves into human form you realize that their density has massively multiplied right? Are you being bad faith on purpose?

Even if we say he can’t though- it STILL doesn’t explain the 1st question about him not being XL when he is larger than all the champions we just listed.

Also, mephisto can alter his size to be every bit as large as apoc. Why isnt he XL by your logic? Ant man has growth pym particles which would make him taller than a standard sentinel so why isnt he? You seem to be content having Odin as a large champ but his sp3 shows the hypocrisy there. Your argument sucks. Simply being smaller than one character does not make you smaller than the class of characters they belong to. Matter manipulation is NOT the standard obviously. Nimrod has every perceivable reason to be XL. It you really just want to say “because kabam said so” thats fine but dont pretend like there is some valid logical argument behind the choice

That's a Wikipedia bio. And it's not incorrect but it's also a bit vague in it's description. Have you read the comic books he's appeared in? He is absolutely capable of shapeshifting, both in his outward form, or he can morph his body and limbs into any type of weaponry he needs. He's much like the T1000, except he's not limited to just blades and melee weapons. He can alter his form at the molecular level, which includes his density, even being able to phase like Kitty Pryde does.

In Uncanny X-men 194 he is able to bypass Juggernauts mystical telepathic resistance by altering his sonic frequencies. He was also able to augment his strength to overpower Juggernaut physically and break the Mkraan's seal and remove his helmet. He also reconstituted himself after Rogue (using all the powers of the X-men combined) teleported his limbs apart and then smashed him to pieces.
