2nd r4 6 star decision...

I have the good fortune of having some really top notch choices for my second r4. Among those are AA, Apoc, BWCV, Diablo, Kitty Pryde, Nick Fury, Nimrod, and Warlock. All are awakened, and I can make an argument for all. Any strong opinions our there on what makes one stand above all of the others? I'd also like to note that I'm looking for who will help the most in act 7 exploration, so I can get my third r4 and become Paragon. My first r4 was Herc. Who should I r4 and pair him with to take me to Paragon?

Out of those I would think Nick or Kitty for Act 7–both can be useful running lanes and potentially Kang. If I recall correctly, they both were in heavy rotation on my teams, along with Apoc.

Diablo and CV are solid (I used 5* CV for several paths and don’t have a Diablo I used), while I think AA and the techs would be fine at R2 and won’t help much with Kang.

Just a quick set of thoughts.

I used all of those a lot in act 7 exploration. I would say NF, he has a fail safe in a second life, can’t miss, stop evade, my r4 hits 10k crits on medium attacks. Probably won’t go wrong with any of them at r4. So do you have a dart board? Flip a 8 sided dice? Lol

I’d say Kitty. You’ll be able to deal with some of the most annoying paths completely ignoring the nodes.

nick fury needs it the most because you want to use him on his second life, which only has 30% hp and rank 4 would help his survivability a bit

Nick fury was my first r4 after 100% act 7 exploration, and he’s now my most used champ. If it bleeds, it will be dead in no time

I used Apoc the most. The other play is explore act 7. if you get a skill gem, chuck it to NF and save the resources for someone else.

I've thought about doing this. How significant is the increase in difficulty when exploring compared to initial completion? If some of the nodes/paths aren't a huge increase in difficulty, I may try and get through it with only one r4 and see what the exploration rewards give me.

Many people would’ve got their first rank 4 after exploration of act 7, myself one of them. So waiting is definitely an option if you’re going for the optimal rank up situation.
In fairness, if I were in your situation, ranked up Apoc or Kitty now and then got a mutant gem, I wouldn’t be upset at all.

I've also thought of this exact Apoc/Kitty situation. It wouldn't be horrible to pull a mutant gem if I were to r4 one of them before exploration.

Having a R3 vs R4 won't make a huge difference in path difficulty in Act 7. If you struggle clearing with a R3 then I think you'll still struggle with a R4. The main point is that this will be your second R4. If you take up NF and get a skill gem later, then you might get stuck ranking up a useless skill champ just to get paragon. If you have to R4 someone now, then going the Apoc/Kitty route might be better in the long run in case you pull a mutant gem. Both those champs are really good at R4. But in terms of who needs the extra boost more? I think NF.
