Cosmic class has become stronger and stronger. At this point I just wanna post my top 10 list. Hopefully you guys can agree most of it. So do you think it’s legit?

Why are people so enamored with Hulkling? Feels like I'm missing or overlooking something. I pulled him from the featured and tried to like him, but I hated his playstyle and it didn't seem like he brought anything special to the table. To me, he's another run-of-the-mill cosmic champ with pretty good damage and access to lots of buffs. The way people talk about him, it's like he's the best thing since sliced bread.

I can give this a go. I pulled Hulkling from my first featured, and was kinda eh about him. Didn’t seem like my sort of champ.

But I started using him and wow, I love him. He’s gonna be my next cosmic R4, which will be one of the next 2 or 3. And he will be great for war with my R4 Herc perma banned. He's not Herc level obviously, and he's not a game breaker but I think he covers a great role in the battlerealm.

If his playstyle isn't for you then that's absolutely fair enough, we all have great champs we hate playing. But I hope I can explain why he's so good. I'm not gonna be going super in depth on his rotation, as it's pretty simple, but if anyone's interested I can give a run down in another comment. I will be going super in depth about why I think he's good though.

The way I view Hulkling is that he doesn't have a "One Thing" that makes him awesome, he's not like Archangel where you know why AA is great right away - Big damage, shut down champs. To me, Hulkling has lots of little things that add up, come together and prove extremely useful in a lot of places.

First off, his immunities are one of the rarest combo’s in the game. Poison and shock. There are only several others with that combo, so it’s nice to have for sure.

Power drain/burn/steal immunity is another great one to have especially with all the tech defenders that have it (Mysterio, Peni, Nimrod, G2099 etc). It makes him instantly a perfect Peni counter (along with other abilities later). This comes in handy more than you’d think, there are a variety of nodes that mess with your power, and Hulkling ignores some of the annoying ones. Power alternator, burden of might, power drain every X seconds etc. He also becomes a staple for AW path 3 if you view high tier war as important. (he covers the EMP/burden of might node perfectly for example, immune to the power control, immune to shock, doesn't rely on crits for aspect of evolution - can take pretty much any champ there).

Hulkling is very tanky, firstly on block due to the bulwark buffs increasing block proficiency, but secondly as a safety net you can regen up to 65% of damage taken from hits (as long as you don't get hit by more than 4 hits, after 4 you buffs start being replaced by new ones, so if you get hit 5 times the first hit won't be fully regenned). This is super nice as a safety net if you slip up. It's great seeing your 100% health hulkling be slammed by a heavy or special, or combo that takes you down to 30% of your max health, only to tick back up to 75%.

Having a secondary form of power really helps too. Essentially, whenever you convert one of his charges into buffs you gain 7% of a bar of power, and this adds up. It means you can gain power just by parrying or just by hitting the opponents block - this comes in handy when you don't want your opponent to gain too much power. But it also helps on nodes like Polka dot power, allowing you to build power where Combat power doesn't work.

He has massive damage through block with his pierce debuffs this comes in handy against a surprising range of situations. Peni is the obvious one. You'll often remove her shield in one 4 hit combo on her block. If you have a fury from Sp2 it'll be gone in one hit. He is built as a Peni counter. But it's also helpful against passive opponents. Your opponent is being annoying and backing off? You want some quick damage? Just hit their block, you'll be doing combo levels of damage through their block.

This leads me onto the next point, easy openings. If your opponent is passive, and you want an opening, as long as you have charges for it, 5 hits on block will get you an unblockable buff that you can use to get around annoying AI.

My last point on his general use, he doesn't rely on any RNG for his abilities. Not even Crit RNG. Hulkling really doesn't need to crit to have good damage. His crit damage is in the bottom 8% of the game, which sounds like a con, but really it just means that you're not waiting around for a huge crit like with Cap IW or Gambit. Your damage is plenty increased by the furies from SP2, and from the unique buffs you have on yourself. Even without fury buffs, you're hitting respectfully hard if you parry, hit a block and get an aptitude for 3 unique buffs. (Odin pre fights here provide even more unique buffs for more attack).

This all means he's an extremely reliable and consistent damage dealer, you don't need to take try a special that will maybe KO the defender, you know exactly how hard he will hit and can use that to your advantage. No disappointment when you don't crit here. Your Sp2 hits non crit will be 17k and your crits will be 22k or whatever the numbers are.

As for his specific uses, anywhere that inflicts power burn/drain/steal, poison or shock consistently. Any time he's immune to an effect he gains a shapeshifter charge, which means more buffs and more power. Peni parkers, honestly, he is the best Peni counter in the game alongside Galan. Personally, I prefer Hulkling since he deals with the shield better, but Galan does have better damage in that fight, so it's up to user preference.

Another great use is if you have a synergy space, Wiccan allows Hulkling to have great up time on stun immunity. By great I mean 100% as long as you hit opponent block every so often (15-16 seconds to be specific). With 3+ pierce buffs (easy to get and maintain), Hulkling is stun immune. Wiccan isn't too common now, but in the future, this will be a great pairing. Not to mention, Wiccan has some great uses too and this synergy gives him miss counter.

Aside from that, you can pretty much use Hulkling anywhere that doesn't directly counter, he's a very general use champion but still has his perfect matchups. Which I think is a great balance for a champion. He's not a jack of all trades master of none, he's a jack of all trades master of some.

To finish off, if you're interested in Hulkling gameplay, I decided to take him to his limits and see if I could solo each EoP fight with Hulkling. This isn't ideal for him by any means - it was meant to challenge and see what he can cope with and do, though he does counter Overseer quite perfectly (if you watch only one fight, watch that one).

Nice, appreciate the write-up + vid. Yea, after reading that I think my main (and only) issue with him is the playstyle. I was hoping there'd be a bit of his kit I had overlooked, but I was already familiar with all of that. Out of respect for that post tho, I'll have to go back and test him out some more to see if additional time/familiarization with his playstyle might change my mind.

Corvus is still great for certain match up and it would be ridiculous to not include him in Cosmic top 10 list.

But his day as the top 3 cosmic has really gone and in the future Kabam needs to give him some more utilities or the best is a damage buff. Let's give him a decent fury which will be triggered after the first cooldown. After the second cooldown, the fury will be doubled and so on.

But I can't find a place for him in the top 10 bcoz other champs are better
I would still feel happy pulling a 6* Corvus & would definitely take him to R3
But I can't defend his place in a top 10 list with so many good options lurking in the cosmic class

When i do play her, i like to get to sp2 & push them to sp3. Cmm then goes indestructible & tank sp3. Fight is then over before they can get to another sp3.

When they say she just plain sucks, it might mean they are saying she is overrated. Even though doom is great and all, I feel like he is overused so I haven't, and do not plan on taking mine to r4.
