Has Captain America (Classic) received new battle effects?

This may have been in the game for a while but I'm only noticing now for the first time, Captain America seems to be leaving a trail behind him from his shield during his attacks.
It's most noticable during his SP1

Has this been a thing for a while and did I miss it or is it something new from this update?
Any older video I see online shows him without the trail during his attacks

Out of curiosity, what was the reason behind the visual change? Was it Independence Day? Or did they just add this randomly?

ik most ppl thinks he sucks cause he s outdated and has a crappy damage, but i do think his block ability pretty useful in some situations, i got my 5* at R4 XD

From what they've said, no particular reason.

Someone probably had some free time, but not enough time for a big job, and used it like this.
